My Gouden Carolus Whisky Infused Beer Experience
The Golden Carolus whisky Infused Beer starts with the well-known Gouden Carolus Imperial Dark and is enhanced with a Gouden Carolus Single Malt whisky infusion. This produces a powerful, full-bodied beer with complex chocolate, vanilla and oak flavours.
The ‘Indulgence’ series, a collection of specialty beers published annually to great acclaim, is where this unusual brew first appeared. The most notable of these Indulgence Series was The Golden Carolus Whisky Infused, which won back-to-back honours at the Zythos Bierfestival from 2017 to 2019 and the esteemed title of “World’s Best Spirit Flavoured Beer” at the World Beer honours.
The deep malt foundation of the beer embodies the flavours of rich fruits, caramel, and Belgian candi sugar making it the perfect vehicle for the whisky infusion. After fermentation, the brew is carefully conditioned to ensure that every taste has a pleasing combination of flavours.
This beer has an appealing look with a ruby red colour and a thin white head that leaves light wisps and a delicate halo.
The scent is a lovely blend of candy, caramel, toffee and sweet Belgian red wine with hints of nutty and fruity flavours including rich fruits and a hint of whisky barrel.
It tastes like a delicious mash-up combining the warmth of whisky with notes of candy and malty sweetness. The flavours of the beer develop with warming, displaying pleasing notes of wood and vanilla. The look is a rich brown hue and subtle crimson With just the correct amount of carbonation. the mouthfeel is medium to full-bodied and has a velvety, smooth texture.
The beer’s silky taste comes from maturing in barrels and being infused with whisky, which makes it a real “smooth criminal” in the beer world.
Reminiscent of Gulden Draak Bier, this top-notch Belgian dark ale has a creamy mouthfeel and a malt whisky infusion that belies its 11% alcohol level. It is dangerously simple to drink despite its intensity, which emphasizes the value of taking your time and enjoying every decadent moment.
History of the Beer Brewery
The brewery that produced this remarkable masterpiece, Brewery Het Anker, has a long and illustrious history that dates back to the early 1500s. The brewery has made investments and changes throughout the years, most notably the 2010 opening of a whisky distillery. The fifth generation owner, Charles Leclef, has carried on the family tradition by managing the brewery’s revitalization and restoration. Another significant turning point in the brewery’s remarkable history was the introduction of Single Malt Whiskies in 2013.
