Cervecería y Maltería Quilmes is an Argentine Brewery founded in 1888 in Quilmes, Buenos Aires Province, by Otto Bemberg, a German immigrant. The company quickly started growing and in the 1920s it was already the most popular beer in Buenos Aires. Since then it has become something of a national symbol and has 75% share of the beer market in Argentina. It sponsors the Argentina national football team and the Colour of its labels are Argentina’s light blue and white.

About the Beer:
I finally got to try Argentina’s national beer. Pours a light golden amber with an effervescent head that dissipates to nothing except a thin ring around the glass. First sip reveals an average body with very fine gentle carbonation. There is a hint of corn sweetness but the finish is actually somewhat bitter. This is a very simple pale lager, not hoppy and very light. While it wasn’t outstanding, it was better in taste than that of a lot of countries which aren’t known for their beer production. All said, it is drinkable but not a beer that I would want to drink again. My Own Rating
