History:
Fuller’s Brewery (Fuller, Smith & Turner plc) is an independent family regional brewery which founded in the year 1845 in Chiswick, West London. Fuller’s are well known as brewer of London Pride and other award-winning ales such as Chiswick Bitter, ESB (Extra Special Bitter) and 1845.
FULLER’S do seem to make very good bottled ales and 1845 looks special. On the bottle, “Matured for 100 days” sounds impressive and significant to me. The gold border states “Celebrating 150 Years of Brewing Excellence”, “Award Winning Strong Ale” and “CAMRA states “This is Real Ale”. These slogans are reassuring and all these facts are what I like.
The live-ness from the bottle conditioning and alcoholic volume of 6.3% are going to make this a formidable ale.
Note:  This beer is NOT a Strong Ale. It’s a classic 19th century Pale Ale.
About the Beer:
Real eye candy. Nice dark ruby red amber colour with a head that forms nicely, but does not linger very longand leaves a thin lacey film on surface. Superfine bubble-threads stream up the sides of the glass. Put your nose anywhere near the top of the glass and  the aroma is intense and complex. It has an intense aroma of fruit cake, complexity of malted barley and a lot more.
A couple of gulps into this deep, thick ale, and it tastes just like the aroma it dispels, i.e. “intense and complex”. This is a Christmas pudding of a beer with spices, caramel and toffee vying with the hops and citrusy esters to achieve a wonderful standoff.
Warmly satisfying with dry finish complements the fullness of the flavors. It doesn’t any better than this.
Those flavours blend smoothly into a hoppy, bitter after taste that lingers for a while.
I like beers to take risks in the pursuit of greatness. That’s exactly what 1845 does.
Fuller’s 1845 sums up what full-bodied, richly flavoured and all-round lip smacking ales should be. If you like strong, interesting ales, you will probably enjoy this. It offers virtually everything and is thoroughly enjoyable.

People have a problem of finding, and affording such an exclusive bottle. But I got it purely by chance. Thanks to John Triddon for getting this exclusive beer for me from London.
