#44 – Dos Equis XX Beer – Pale Lager

Beer Name :  Dos Equis XX,
Manufacturer :  Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery,
Origin : Mexico,
Company founded in : 1897,
Beer Type : Pale Lager,
SRM : 7,
Abv : 4.2%,
IBU : 7,
About the Beer :
Pours fairly crystal clear pale golden yellow color with a very small white head which disappears immediately. Nice lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation.
Very mild aromas with good balance of pale malt, corn, and light earthy hop notes. First sip and your taste buds won’t suddenly regain life. You read it right, the taste is light corn sweetness, faint apple and all other flavors are very light, a bit watery after taste and very underwhelming. It tastes like someone brewed incredibly bland beer.
This is a nice refresher for the summer but that’s it. It smells close to nothing and tastes almost like nothing. Definitely not the worst beer, a little better than Coronas or Tsingtao , but I don’t even think of those as beers.
It is a kind of beer you would like to drink with a meal when you just don’t want to drink plain water.
You have not missed anything in your life if you have not tried this beer. May be good for those who don’t like smell and taste of a Lager Beer.
My Own Rating:

Aroma : 4/10
Appearance : 4/10
Taste : 4/10
Palate : 4/10
Overall : 4/10
History of the Brewery :
Dos Equis XX is a Mexican beer made by the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery.
Master brewer Wilhelm Haase was originally from Germany and dreamed of becoming a legend for brewing Mexican beer. He created Dos Equis lager in 1897 after he immigrated to Mexico. His approach was to combine his love for his homeland with the new and wonderful tastes and traditions of his new home in Mexico. Originally, Haase named the brew “Siglo XX” which means “Twentieth Century.” The name Dos Equis comes from the Roman number for twenty i.e. XX or two Xs. Dos Equis XX Amber has been available in the United States since 1973 when it was first imported from Mexico.
Produced and bottled by Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma Brewery based in Monterrey and Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Dos Equis has become one of the most well known beers produced in Mexico. The Dutch brewing company Heineken International purchased this brewery which produces Dos Equis in 2010.
The Interesting History of Dos XX Beer is that even though Dos Equis XX Amber has been available in the US for nearly 40 years, it was not always the sensation as it is today. The notoriety surrounding this beer today is directly attributed to a marketing campaign that began in 2006. “The Most Interesting Man in the World” advertising began in 2009 and the results were remarkable.
If you have yet to see a Dos Equis XX Lager advertisement then you don’t know what you have been missing. The ads feature actor Jonathan Goldsmith as a 70ish man who has traveled the world and who has performed amazing and very unbelievable feats during his lifetime
