History:
The Black Sheep Brewery was established in 1991 in Masham in the borough of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. This brewery produces a range of well hopped beers and it quickly became successful. It now produces over 75,000 barrel a year. It has one of the largest share holding in CARMA Members’ Investment Club. Black Sheep use the Yorkshire Square Fermenting system. This traditional and unusual method of fermenting was developed in Yorkshire 200 yrs ago by Thimothy Bentley and yields beer with distinctive bitterness and silky mouth feel.

About the Beer:
Emptied into a glass, it is a super beaming, crystal clear in body and the ale itself is almost dark gold in colour. The Lacing is very sticky and clings very well to the side of my glass. It is a bitter Beer, but not very extreme. It looks nice with a full head, I can smell the sweet smooth malts followed by the typical fruit esters that should be found in any English Pale Ale. In taste you can clearly make out the barley, hints of the wheat and hops and the Fruity notes give this a bit of a kick. The carbonation is very mild in this medium bodied brew. It is buttery smooth and gives my palate a very good coating going from sweet to herbal to bitter. A fine English Pale Ale indeed.
