About the Beer :
A steady pour barely produces a quarter finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer has a hazy golden colour.
There is slight tartness to the middle of the aroma, but the finish has a dried grassy, slightly cracker like grain character that seems a bit washed out compared to what I would like to see in a HefeWeizen. The aroma on this isn’t bad as it has all the required notes, but it seems a bit washed out and thin.
There is lack of carbonation visually with a slight prickle of carbonation to the texture, it is not nearly at the level that it should be and seems a bit low for its standard.
The texture definitely seems a bit on the thin side, though if it had an expressive carbonation this likely wouldn’t have been so noticeable. The flavor is somewhat sweet and the wheat flavor seems especially weak. There is a touch of hop bitterness to the finish as well as some sharpness from the light carbonic bite that lingers on in the finish while numbing the tongue just a bit.
It has an average duration of flavour and is below average intensity of flavour. Balance is okay, but there aren’t many notes to balance. It’s too simple. Lacks nuance, intricacy, and subtlety. If you’re going to brew a hefeweizen, you’ve got to master the careful use of only four basic ingredients. I don’t see any mastery here. Build is cohesive, but not great.
