Manufacturer : Brauerei Beck & Co,
Brewed by : AB InBev India,
About the Beer :
Pouring it into my pint glass, the super silky compact foam rose high up the sides and fluffed up in the interior. Wet white cotton candy, lots of streaming bubbles, ample lacing and great retention.
As Becks Ice is a Pale Lager, it definitely registers in the mid-single digits on the SRM – in other words, pale straw gold and clean.
Aromas and flavors here matched closely with a surprising emphasis on malt accented with some hops in the background. Mouthfeel is light and watery and Becks Ice finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Becks Ice has a fine balance in flavor, look, and drinkability.
What it doesn’t have (what it lacks – and why I like it) is a corn flavor that’s unavoidable or overbearing. In the Strong Indian Brewed Beers, apart from Buds Magnum (again AB Inbev) this is the only other Beer I experienced that doesn’t have Corn in it (I hate Corn).
It was different than all the other Strong Indian lagers I’ve tried in the past. The challenge with all new Beer launches in India is that the taste and quality deteriorates after a period of time.
I only bought a couple of Cans to try this new brew but now I will surely buy this beer again. Its right up to my alley.
My Own Rating:
Taste : 8/10
Palate : 7/10
History :
Beck’s Brewery, also known as Brauerei Beck & Co., is a brewery in the northern German city of Bremen. In 2001, Interbrew agreed to buy Brauerei Beck for 1.8 billion euros. At that time it was the fourth largest brewer in Germany. Since 2008, it has been owned by the Interbrew subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev.
