Manufacturer : Sharp’s,
About the Beer:
It is apparently one of the most popular bitters in the UK. Pours a deep, slightly hazed bronze colour with minimal head that disappears quickly and does not adhere to the glass.
The aroma is of light mix of malts, toffee and fruity. Not really much depth to this one but it’s not offensive either. It tastes of malts to begin with a little spice, a hint of caramel, some fruit and a little biscuity in there too. Again the taste is pretty basic and very much like a typical English bitter. Finish is smooth and slightly sweet with the a touch of spice. The carbonation levels are low and slightly on the dry side.
Overall it is a moderate beer in all directions and there is nothing that draws attention to this, other than it’s inherent mellowness. There are much smoother/mellower English Amber ales. I feel that this Beer lacks any defining bitterness or maltiness, then it might have succeeded.
Listed in the “1001 Beers to Taste Before You Die”. May be for the hype.
Note: Special Thanks to Craig Conway for getting me this Beer from the UK.
