History:
Hacker-Pschorr is a brewery in Munich, formed in 1972 out of the merger of two breweries, Hacker and Pschorr. Hacker was founded in 1417, 99 years before the enactment of the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516. By Munich law, only the six breweries within the city limits of Munich are invited to serve their beer at Oktoberfest. Hacker-Pschorr is one of the six. Hacker-Pschorr produces 15 different products of which some are only seasonally available. Hacker- Pschorr Weisse is the most popular beer of the company.
About the Beer:
Pours an intense honey gold color with a massive creamy white head that eventually settles down without much lacing. It is a full bodied beer with medium carbonation. On inhaling we get the fruity aromas of banana, pear with faint clove- spice flavor. Taste is very fruity with notes of juicy banana, spice and a bit of a yeasty maltiness. It has a great mouth feel and the beer is super smooth with nice aftertaste and the drinkability is through the roof with the alcohol being a smooth criminal in there. All the aromas come through in the taste of this beer with complexities of its fruity palate shining through. A beer with great characteristics and with an extremely consistent behavior from the first sip to the very last drop. For me, “Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier” would still be the most preferable Weisse Bier, all though this one is similar to that masterpiece in many respects.
