History:
I have already mentioned about Meatnime Brewery, Meantime IPA and Meantime London Porter in my previous review (#3 & #17) and had an amazing experience. It was now time to experience 2014 World Beer Cup Fruit Wheat Beer winner Meantime ‘Raspberry Wheat’ in a beautiful bottle. This beer is brewed with malted barley and malted wheat. According to the brewery “It is fermented with a rare warmth loving yeast, based on a pale lightly hopped wheat beer. The refreshingly crisp fruitiness, aroma and rich colour come from the addition of fresh raspberry puree during maturation”
About the beer:
The Raspberry Wheat Beer pours a pleasingly cloudy, pale, delicately hopped wheat beer with a distinct fruity aroma and a rich frothy orangey-pink colour. Being top fermented, there is an immediate waft of raspberry filling the air. It is certainly fruity, but thankfully not over-sweet. The fruit is tart, perhaps slightly bitter and perfectly balanced, with a faint hint of sourness. The after taste is very much a wheat beer with an almost champagne like taste at the finish. It is an extremely high-quality beer and I found myself enjoying it greatly. Served chilled, the Raspberry Wheat Beer is hugely refreshing and this would be a great for a summer afternoon beer. Many people may not like this as it doesn’t taste like a regular Beer, but as per my thinking if you are drinking a Fruit Wheat Beer, then you will obviously expect Fruity Taste in it. This is also another variety of Beer meant to be enjoyed.
