#02 Duvel – The Devil Of All Beers – Golden Ale

Beer Name : Duvel Beer
Manufacturer : Duvel Moortgat Brewery
Origin : Belgium
Company founded in : 1871
Beer Type :    Belgian Strong Golden Ale
Alc : 8.5%
Ingredients: water, yeast, pale barley malts, with Saaz-Saaz(Bohemia) and Styrian Golding hops.
History:
Four generations of the Moortgat family have brought together Pilsner malts, Bohemian hops, and a unique yeast strain to create this intense, aromatic and enchanting ale.
To commemorate the end of World War I, the Moortgats named their main beer Victory Ale. But during the 1920s, an avid drinker described the beer as “nen echten duvel” (a real devil in Brabantian Dutch) – perhaps in reference to its formidable alcohol content (8.5% ABV) – and the name of the beer was changed to Duvel – “The Devil of All Beers”
About the Beer:
“Duvel is a natural beer with a subtle bitterness, a refined flavour and a distinctive hop character”. This beer is extremely carbonated and there is a cascade of bubbles streaming to the top. Extra foamy persistent head, like a cloud that you could eat with a spoon. Incredibly well balanced aromas and flavors of grains and herbal hops, blended with a perfect fruity lemony sensation and a touch of spices. Excellent aftertaste with great balance between sweetness, bitterness, intensity and length.
Its unique brewing process of about 90 days, guarantees a pure character, delicate effervescence and a pleasant sweet taste of alcohol.
It is also one of “500 Classic Beers” in the World and I can easily see why the Duvel is enjoyed by so many for its remarkable balance and craft. One of the best ale ever tasted.
If you are looking for a true Golden Belgian Ale, then this is the one you must try.
